The reviewer considers this 18-volt variable-speed cordless drill to be a high-voltage drill, since 12-volt and 14.4-volt drills are usually sufficient for most tasks. This drill has the precision of a drill press, but will not replace a drill press since it cannot do certain things like allowing the mounting of a mortising attachment or boring through the center of a pen blank. The plunge base is spring-loaded and locks out of the way for the most common tasks where it is not needed. When the plunge base is used in extended position, the tool works similar to a drill press, and bored holes are as accurate as those of some drill presses. An edge guide comes with the drill and works great. Some features of this drill are a two-speed gearbox, clutch, keyless chuck, two batteries, and a charger.
