Decent Helical Cutterhead, But No Dust Collection

The reviewer mentioned that this model priced at $1,000 is also available at $795 if its three-knife spiral cutterhead is replaced with a straight-knife cutterhead. This CT-204L does not have a dust collection port, a column-mounted power switch, or push blocks, which would be nice features and that are often found on other machines. All other jointers tested came with 4-inch dust collection ports, for example. However, the helical head easily cuts through figured woods without visible tear-out, and had the easiest feed rate of all the helical head jointers tested. The helical knives tend to leave wide, shallow ridges in the cut wood, but these ridges are easy to sand flat.
