The only feature that the reviewer rated excellent on this router was the power switch. The ease of changing bits and low vibration were rated good, but most performance features were rated average or less. Some high points are the low ($100) price, which includes a carrying case and Porter-Cable style guide bushings adapter, and onboard storage for the wrench used for changing bits. Some low points are the lack of dust extraction, the collet is not self-releasing and accepts only 1/4-inch shank bits, the plunge action can cause the bit to be off by 1/32 inches, the depth scale cannot be zeroed, the fine adjustment knob overrides the plunge ability, and the fine adjustment knob is difficult to turn. Although little weight is required to plunge 1 inch, this value is probably excessively low, since it is difficult not to plunge when gripping the router. At the time of writing, one model within a new line of Skil routers was scheduled to replace this model: that replacement model will have a turret stop, zeroing capability on the depth stop, a work light, and price tag of about $80.
