Reviews

grade B

Good Bevel Stop Selection, But Inaccurate
Wood Magazine, Volume 178, 2007-09

by Toolmark

The reviewer listed more low points than high points for this mitersaw, though the average grade overall was about a "B." The specific model reviewed was given as "MS1260LZ" (without a "1" on the end). The high points are that a retractable pin allows angles up to 48 degrees with stops at 33.9 degrees and 45 degrees, and an open-leg metal stand is included. The low points are that the 45-degree miter stops are inaccurate even after calibration of the 90-degree stop, the dust bag is porous enough to allow fine dust to escape, and the laser illuminates 1/16" to the left of the cutting line rather than directly on it. A few more possible drawbacks are that the miter scale has extra marks at half-degree points that are too difficult to see, and the fast-adjusting horizontal hold-in clamp causes workpieces to lift off the table. Ridgid offers a lifetime service agreement as well as a three-year warranty on this tool.
