Although the Nova is small with only 8 inches between centers (and 20 inches with a bed extension), Fine Woodworking chose it as their favorite midi-lathe. It is light and compact, making it easier to carry and store. Unlike most other midi-lathes, it allows outboard turning. Its variable-speed control is simple and convenient, with no need to fuss with belts.
