Integrated Motor and Headstock Mean Smoothness
Fine Woodworking Magazine, Volume 191, 2007-05

by Researchgirl

Fine Woodworking liked the performance of this lathe. There was no speed loss even with 40 lbs. on the brake-and-lever setup. Its motor and headstock are integrated, with no drive pulleys, leading to a rigid spindle and smooth operation. Its design for outboard turning includes a beefy bolt-on outrigger which holds the tool rest. Its torque and tool rest were both rated at "excellent." On the other hand, it has only fair stability until weighted with 200-250 lbs. of sand, which improves its stability to "very good."
