The reviewer rated this router five stars for performance but four stars for value. This 3 1/2-hp router can be considered to be a high power version of Milwaukee's 1 3/4-hp Bodygrip routers. This 5625-20 model has a threaded screw for fine adjustments and a quick release for large adjustments. The cutting depth can be set from above the table when the router is mounted in a table. The 15-amp motor uses feedback circuitry to keep the bit speed constant if the load increases. With this feature the router can easily produce full-depth cuts in red oak when using a raised-panel bit with back cutters. The pistol grip handles provide good control, yet mushroom-shaped handles are also provided for work in more cramped spaces. Two clear Lexan subbases come with the router.

The reviewer rated this Top Tool for Table-Mounted Routers out of 11 routers tested. This is definitely the best router to get for in-table use, though for handheld use the DeWalt DW625 or Bosch 1619EVS are recommended. A very appealing feature of this router is the cutting depth adjustment through-the-tabletop. The collet can be raised high enough to change most router bits from above the table, and both clear subbases allow a clear view of the bit when routing in handheld mode. There is a two-stage system for setting depth that is accurate for both handheld or in-table use. Some low points are that the motor can drop out of the base if it is unsupported while large depth changes are being made under the table, the cutting depth range is quite low (1 3/4"), and no dust accessories come with the tool, or are even available for it. The pistol grip handles can be interchanged with ball-shaped handles that come with the tool.
