I have had this jig saw for several years. It does ok on small projects. The only problem that I have had with it is the base tilt keeps coming loose. Other then that, it is an ok light duty saw. About 3 years ago I bought a Porter Cable professional duty jigsaw and it is vastly better. It is variable speed, more powerful, less vibraition, and very solidly built.
My advice is that if you use it one or twice per year get the Makita. I you are a serious woodworker or professional tradesman spring for a Bosch, DeWalt, or PC.
