Great Compressor But Poorly Crated (2008-08-29)
I bought from Tooltopia but it was shipped directly from IR to Washington State. When I picked it up, the cardboard upper part of the crate was destroyed and the compressor damaged. Hence the rating of 4. Tooltopia took care of it as did IR. I gave them a list of parts required and they were air shipped to me no charge for parts or shipping. I installed them and was up and running. The compressor is powerful, reasonably quiet. As it has a big 2 cylinder pump, it runs slower than the 3 cylinder model compressors of the same size and cfm rating. The noise is a much lower pitch. As well, it's the only one I found that is rated for a 100% duty cycle when using synthetic lube. This should help with longevity. The gage is cheap but works. The airfilter assembly is quite light duty with a plastic cover. The drain is in the center of the bottom of the tank and hard to get at so I installed a 90 degree fitting and a 4" or so threaded pipe upon which I mounted a tap. Now it's easy to drain. These are minor and although I'm very happy with the machine, I do have one concern about design. The pump is very tall and although it's fanned driving pulley is quite large as well, the head of the pump sticks up about 3 or 4 inches above the fan which in my opinion is the main reason the head or top of the pump gets very very hot. Hot enough that although still quite new, every time I run it, a very strong odour of cooking paint permeates the immediate area (my basement). Pointing a small (14") electric fan at the top of the pump seems to help quite noticeably so I would recommend this to anyone interested in this compressor.

Great Compressor (2006-12-06)
I would have given this compressor a 5, except the shipping crate was flimsy in my opinion. Other than the packaging, this is a great compressor. It is quite, powerful and meets all the requirements... (More)
