Compact Footprint
Wood Magazine, Volume 171, 2006-09

by Toolmark

The reviewer said this mitersaw has 12 inches of crosscut capacity yet needs only 25 inches of bench depth--a great space improvement from contractor-style tablesaws. There were many pluses with this saw on top of the space savings: the base-mounted laser can be adjusted to the left side or right side of the blade within seconds, the line is extremely accurate, the miter and bevel angle are microadustable, an LCD display on a gooseneck shows the two angle settings, and cuts were very accurate when compared to a protractor. The compactness of this tool is due to the head (motor and blade) sliding on fixed rails. If the LED display is omitted, the saw is $50 less than its ordinary $650 total price, and the model number for that non-LED version is C12RSH.

5 out of 5 Great Machine Right Out of the Crate (2009-04-05)

I have had this saw for over a year now and have not had a single problem. I have had to replace the drive belt, but one call to Steel City support line and the belt arrived two days later. The saw is heavy, so get help when loading and unloading and getting it out of the steel shipping cage. Putting the wings and rails on was not a problem; even for one person. I used my adjustable outfeed roller to hold the steel wing high enough to put in the bolts. The rails went on cleanly with no problems. The right side board fit well; but had to drill the holes to match the installation. I have since pulled the board out and installed a homemade router table for a 3 hp router. I am able to use the T for both the saw and the router. There was no work needed to align the saw blade with the slots in the table it was dead on from the factory. The T square needed only a minor tweak. The wing and saw table were well coated in a corrosion inhibitor, which needed a rag and some turpentine to remove. Once you do this, it is important to wax the surface to prevent rust formation. I had to wait a few days to run the saw as I needed to run the 220 power line. Once I turned it on, I was amazed at the power and ease of cutting just about any scrap I had in the shop. The table insert is designed for allowing the blade to tilt, and I have learned that one should buy a zero clearance insert to prevent thin pieces from falling into the blade area. Placement of the on off switch is great for most situations, however, I tend to turn the saw off by accident when using a push stick to get pieces past the blade. I have done a number of projects from home improvement to tables and jewelry boxes. The saw made all of the project easier and the quality better than my past projects from my old 8 inch saw. The smoothness of the cuts has been incredible, for either rips or crosscuts.

5 out of 5 Great Saw- Bit Heavy. (2008-09-13)

has been flawless working with it for past 18 months. A real workhorse and dead accurate. Good repeatability. bit heavy. would be again without question. Have had other brands but this one is by far the best so far. most impressed. Needs a folding mitre cart such as Delta due to weight, at least for me.

5 out of 5 Love It Or Hate It (2008-07-06)

Looks like people either love this saw or hate it. I love it. I have had none of the problems mentioned in the complaints, and have been very pleased with the function of the saw. This is a heavy sucker, so put it where you want it and leave it there. Works great, accurate cuts, and doesn't bog down. Those are the big three I look for in a saw, and it does each of those. I'd recommend it. Now, as far as packaging goes, it is pretty lousy. Mine arrived unscathed, but the box was puny. I haven't had to deal with customer service, so I can't comment on them, but if they are like most large corporations today, they probably stink.
