WHAT'S THIS?

Digital Scales Accurate, Miter Stops Inaccurate

The reviewer mentioned that this is the only mitersaw tested that has both digital miter and bevel scales, and these were consistently accurate. There is a fine adjustment knob that allows easy and precise setting of bevel angles, and an accurate, adjustable laser, too. On the down side, the 45-degree miter stops were inaccurate, and the detent lever rubs against the table when the miter angle is changed. Angles larger than 45 degrees can be used via shim brackets. This model without the laser costs only $280 instead of $330 and that model is called "C12FCH."

The reviewer rated this 12" compound mitersaw at 5/5 stars. The reviewer particularly liked the LCD digital display that indicates the miter and bevel angles because ordinarily bevel scales at the rears of saws are difficult to read. The displayed values are also remarkably accurate, to within 1/2 degrees on both miter and bevel angles. Another good feature is that the laser is mounted on the saw housing, unlike many blade-retainer-washer lasers that cause the laser guide line to deflect as the blade descends toward the wood. Other positives include the ability to align the laser quickly with a hexhead wrench, the line can be set to either side of the blade, and the laser is powered from regular current from the saw rather than from batteries. The saw has good power, there is a 5-inch left fence that supports tall stock but that can be flipped out of the way, and the 32-tooth carbide blade is decent quality.
