Consumer Reports testers ranked this as the 5th best portable table saw, which puts it in the "very good" range. The accuracy, ease of use, and rip precision are excellent, the speed is very good, but the edge finish is only fair. The saw comes with extensions and a cut-line indicator (which lies in front of the cutting blade for ease of alignment).

A Great Tool, I Recommend It! (2007-07-28)
After much research and traveling around the cities in my area to look at portable table saws I purchased this Hitachi. I have not been disappointed, it's a great saw. I did purchase a better blade for it. In my opinion the fence on this saw is the best fence I've seen on a saw in it's price range. The fence is self-aligning, wider and sturdier than any others I saw, perfectly square and locks down tight! The miter gauge has no slop in it, although the slot is not standard, but I found that to be the case on other portable size saws, you will just need to make your own featherboard slider rails. The saw runs very smooth and true, no vibration, the blade has absolutely no wobble. The stand is very sturdy and nice. The table and extension are very smooth and larger than many other portable saws. The saw was set up perfectly right out of the box and every measurement I've checked has been accurate. It has on board storage for all the accessories, even the fence. It also comes with the dado plate in the box. It has plenty of power for everything I've used it for. I highly recommend it.
