I was under the impression that it would be more rugged, after all it is used against concrete. The case it came in felt chinsy and only one latch could close. The silver piece you see towards the front is the chuck housing. It is silver-painted plastic, not metal. It has worked for me in drilling holes and chipping at concrete. I found that the motor gets very warm and smells like it is burning. But, the unit still works. This unit is o.k. for occasional home use. I would rather of bought a good used brand name unit for a higher price, but you get what you pay for.
