Although Fine Woodworking did not choose this machine as its favorite of a group of eleven 18" bandsaws, they said that it stood out from the group. The saw cuts well, with acceptable results in the resaw and curve-cutting test. It has a very solid frame, with little deflection, and a stiff, sturdy table. It has a cast-iron trunnion support and trunnions. On the other hand, FWW did not like the General's fence which was not adjustable for drift or squareness to table. Also, its fussy wheel guide made blade changing difficult.
