WHAT'S THIS?

Welded Steel with Plenty of Tension

Unlike most 14-in. bandsaws which have cast-iron frames, the General 90-100 has a European style welded-steel frame. It outperformed most of the bandsaws tested by Fine Woodworking in blade tension, easily reaching 15,000 psi. it doesn't have a built-in tension gauge, but it has a convenient and easy-to-use tension knob. This machine is a twin of the Shop Fox G9970 which also has a welded-steel frame. It cuts acceptably but requires a slightly slower feed rate when resawing. On the downside, its wheels were the most misaligned vertically at 0.5 inches, and the guide bar and thrust-bearing deflected easily when pushed front to back.

I've had this saw for about a year and am happy with it. I replaced the tires and tuned up the guides and it is fine. Do wish it came with a good fence but I made one too resaw.
