This mortiser from General International was the choice of Fine Woodworking over similar 1-hp mortisers. Brass ways found on the table and mortise head will give the castings long life and provide a smooth sliding action. The tilting head and fence of this machine gave it a plus over others, as well as its gas-strut counterbalance, adjustable lever handle, table lock, and workpiece stops.
