Very Good Workholding System, Only Minor Drawbacks
Wood Magazine, Volume 156, 2004-06

by Toolmark

The reviewer said this is the best workholding system among those tested, and is definitely recommended if angled mortises are not needed and if work off the table is not needed. This tool was noticeably superior to others tested in that the long "fingers" on the hold-down prevent twisting of the wood when the chisel is pulled away, and the hold-down doesn't require a hexhead screw or ratcheting knob. A stop for the depth-of-cut saves manual effort by limiting upward head travel, four chisels are included in the purchase price, and the long handle and horizontal grip were ergonomically well designed. The drawbacks were relatively minor and generally didn't relate to the tool operation itself: the instruction manual was too terse, there was not a place to store adjustment tools, and the handle was limited two starting positions.
