According to Fine Woodworking, this Fisch mortiser is a good choice for a powerful machine which can cut with little effort. It operates at 1,200 rpm, a low speed, which is a plus, compared to other mortisers in its class. However, using this mortiser was a little more awkward than others and it has no dampening system, making the spring return less than ideal. It has a large table area and long side-to-side table travel, but short front-to-back travel.
