Exactly What a Dremel Tool Should Aways Have Been! (updated) (2007-04-04)by Morepower
(update) ------- After using this tool for about a year, I have only one complaint. It is very easy to stall. I find specifically that when using the cutoff wheels hard material (which is a common use for me) I must be very careful not to overload the tool. No damage results from the stall (it is clearly designed to do this), but it is a pain to always have to restart.
In my typical usage more power would be welcome, this is enough for me to mark it down 1 star from 5 to 4. That said, I would buy this tool again, the lack of power is more than made up in overal usefulness. ------
This tools is exactly what a dremel tool should always have been.
It's small, light, easy to hold, with enough power for all the dremeling jobs.
The Lithium battery means that after it's been in your drawer for a year, it still has a strong charge and is ready to go.
Did I mention easy to hold. It is a funky shape, but nestles perfectly in the hand and give you plenty of control. Much better than the traditional dremel shape.
My only gripe (and it's tiny one) is that it doesn't come with all the collet sizes, nor does it come with the variable chuck. I presonally think the variable chuck best choice for this tool if it gets all around general use. Of course for full high speed, precision use, collets are the best choice.
I find myself using this tool A LOT, way more than my older corded dremel. Mostly because is always ready to go and cordless.
Cudos to Dremel on this design. It is outstanding.

Scary Situation (2008-01-05)
Initially I was very pleased with this tool. it is compact , easy to hold and just about all the power of a regular Dremel tool. There did come one potentially dangerous downside- while using it one evening it suddenly kicked into a high rate of speed and would NOT shut off when pressing the power button. This was frightening since I did not know how long it would run like that and I had a cutting wheel attached to it. So I was concerned of self injury as well as destroying something in my apartment. For this reason I found this tool to be dangerous. I am not sure why this happened but Dremel needs to work out the bugs on this one before someone gets hurt.

Cordless In a Winner (2007-07-21)
This is so far superior to my previous two Dremel Rotary Tools. I've only had it for a few days, but it's more comfortable in the hand and holds up well. I can't say how long the lithium battery holds up because it's too new, but I'm definitely in favor of the cordless approach for my detail work. Will probably buy another as a gift.
