(This review was for the Dremel Model 8001-01 with mention of the similar Model 8000-01; there also exists a Dremel 8000-02.) The reviewer said the motivation for having a rotary tool that is cordless is that an attached electrical cord can make the such a small tool feel unbalanced. This rotary tool is therefore cordless, well-balanced, uses a 10.8-volt battery, and is relatively powerful. This rotary tool can sharpen a badly dinged blade using only one third of its total battery charge, for example. Another example: this tool can drill more than 100 holes of 1/8" diameter and 1" depth into red oak before using up the battery charge. The Li-ion battery takes three hours to recharge. This model comes with 60 bits and accessories, an LED flashlight, and a soft carrying case. The similar model 8000-01 comes with a hard carrying case but no flashlight.
