FWW labeled this as the “best overall scroll saw.” Not only is the machine well designed and easy to use, it is set at a reasonable price. This saw is solidly built. The trunnions that hold up the table are sturdy and can be moved without difficulty. The DeWalt DW788 can provide better results for pierced cutting since the upper arm lifts up. This way, threading work onto the blade from above is done more comfortably. Another sign of excellent design is that the tensioning lever is up front; hence releasing the blade can be done a bit more effortlessly. It is very easy to turn the saw on and off and to change the speed. Not only is the saw strong and well-designed, but it delivers a very smooth cut. Overall, this saw performs particularly well and many of the features are easy to be used.

I wish I could say this as good as a hegner but I can't, however, I use this thing for a variety of different materials, and I think that overall, this tool cuts fantastic.

The shoe is CRAP! and if you are cutting hard materials (hardwoods, plastics and metals) a sharp blade with the right tpi, the correct cutting speed and patience are a required, Usually I use this saw for cutting wood and foam. This saw is made for this stuff, I removed the shoe altogether and got a spiral blade. I have pushed this saw to its height limits - 2" and again with a steady hand and a slow steady pace, absolutely flawless. I will admit trying to cut straight lines can be frustrating, however, I love this saw, everyone who uses this saw at work loves it too.

The blower is nicely designed, the blades are easy to change, the tilt table is helpful, a not the best design but once in position it holds well. The large table is also great. Variable speed also very handy.

This was for my brother's 70th birthday, he is having a great time. He is really excited about the ability and ease of this instrument. (More)
