The reviewer said this plunge router had the best dust collection of any of the plunge routers tested, and this model was only narrow beaten by the Bosch 1613AEVS due to the latter's ease of use in a router table. The depth-setting system on this DW621 router is adjustable to 1/256 inches and uses a rack-and-pinion mechanism. Because the plunge lock is operated by rotating the left handle, this allows the user to constantly grip the router with both hands. The plunge action is remarkably smooth and the router is the quietest (88 dB) of those tested. Some low points are that the locking power switch operates in an odd three-step process, the mushroom-shaped handles would have been more comfortable as pistol-grip handles, and the transparent dust hood easily becomes dusty and therefore interferes with viewing the bit. One odd and slightly annoying feature is that it is impossible to restart the router until the motor has completely stopped turning, although this probably was intended to extend the life of the motor.
