WHAT'S THIS?

Top Choice if You Plan to Add a D-handle Base

The reviewer said this would be the top choice for a router if the user intended to add a D-handle base later on. This router came in close behind the Bosch and Craftsman routers, which were rated the best, so this router has a lot going for it. The on-off switch remains near the handles, even when the depth-of-cut is changed, the through-the-handle dust collection method was the best of any router tested, the detachable power cord makes it easy to switch to the optional D-handle fixed base, and clear subbases on each of the two bases make the bit more visible. The subbases also include a concentricity tool to keep the subbases' openings centered on the collet. Some low points are that the depth-adjusting collar must be removed from the motor when switching to and from the plunge base, the depth-stop rod on the plunge base blocks view of the scale, and the variable speed control is too close to the plunge column for convenience. This router was unique among those tested because the locking lever on the plunge base is normally in free mode, and must be pulled in order to lock the cutting depth.

This is my 2nd router, and in my opinion,it's awesome! I snagged it at a really good price, and am very happy with its performance. Used it plenty both in and out of my table. (More)
