I bought the DW317K several years ago. The tool cuts wood and metal. It's a little bulky and heavy, but it does cut wood just fine. Had I found ToolCritic.com before I might have got something different. None the less it's been dropped, wet, and overworked, and is still going. It works fine, it's just not as nice as some of the others?

The DeWalt DW317 is a good jigsaw for the price. It it easy to change blades (one handed and without tools) and makes straight cuts with relative ease, but it is difficult to set the blade at exactly 90 degrees for a regular, straight cut. You must loosen a screw at the bottom and line up a rounded point of metal on the shoe with a red mark. The only way to really make sure you have a 90 degree cut is by trial and error. Otherwise, I like it. It doesn't seem to vibrate excessively nor does it make a lot of noise.
