Good Design, Some Problems with Machinery
Fine Woodworking Magazine, Volume 160, 2003-01

by Researchgirl

Although the design of this Delta jointer is superior, the quality of the machinery was not as good. It has a convenient and safe switch mounted above the table instead of below, where you have to bend down and reach to turn it on and off. Also, its rack-and-pinion fence design was FWW's choice for a fence design-- the fence works smoothly and can even be moved with one hand. However, this machine is one of the three Chinese-made tested by FWW, all of which had problems with the threads of the locknuts that secure the outfeed tables to the bed of the machine. Also, the machine had to be taken apart to file down the nib, which was limiting the travel of the fence halfway in both directions.
