FWW's Best Overall 18" Bandsaw
Fine Woodworking Magazine, Volume 170, 2004-05

by Researchgirl

Fine Woodworking chose this 3-hp bandsaw as their favorite overall out of a group of eleven. They liked its solid frame (it ranked first in the frame-deflection test) and its stiff, sturdy table. it had a cast-iron trunnion support and trunnions. It did well in the curve-cutting test and had the fastest resaw cutting-speed of all eleven machines. It had a good rip fence which was adjustable for drift but the lowest rip capacity. FWW didn't love its wheel guide system compared with other guide systems and would have liked to see a ball-bearing setup for back-of-the-blade support instead of the third wheel guide that this machine had in the back. This fussy guide system also made blade changing inconvenient.
