According to Fine Woodworking, this mortiser can adequately bore a mortiser up to 3/4 in. It operates at a high 3,600 rpm-- the high-speed motor often means greater friction, heat, and more frequent jamming of the chisel. Also, keep in mind the motor is wired for 220-volts. Bit changes and table movement were relatively easy.
