The reviewer implied that the low price of this router is offset by the large amount of force needed (22 pounds) to plunge 1 inch, which is the most force needed by any of the routers in the test. On the positive side, the large pistol-grip style handles are comfortable. There are several other negatives mentioned, though. This router accepts only 1/4-inch shank bits, and the collet runout was the highest in the test (+/- .008 inches). The chip shield is difficult to remove when the user needs to change bits, the dust collection port does not fit the router well, there is no self-releasing collet, and when mounted in a table there is no height adjustment control other than the plunge itself. The 3-inch subbase opening is large and allows the bit to be easily viewed, but it will not accept guide bushings. The rack-and-pinion depth scale is easy to use, but has no mechanism for microadjustments.
