I got this saw while shopping for a dewalt dw390. It came as part of a kit that lowes had on sale. The offer was too good to pass up. The kit is the FS418CRL2. The kit includes the high torque drill, a recieprical saw, flashlight , the FS18CS saw, two high capacity batteries and a dual quick charger. Best of all was the price $74. The FS18CS alone sells for $60
The standard blade on the saw while ok , could be a lot better. I changed it to a dewalt blade and it cuts much better. I have also discovered that the saw works better with Firestorm batteries than the ones marked black and decker. As much as I love dewalt tools , As a home owner who has light to moderate use, I cant see any reason to buy the dw390 over the FS18CS unless you can get the 390 as a bare tool and you have a bunch of batteries. The great thing about the FS18CS is that it uses the same batteries as the firestorm outside tools. I used this saw to help frame a room and put up a fence and it worked great once I changed the blade. The two year warranty is a plus also. For those use to using a dewalt saw you have to get use to the fact that the blade is on the other side of the saw. The fact that this saw comes with a laser assures that you have straight cuts. Battery life depends on which batteries you have. With the firestorm high capacity batteries the battery life is very good.
